Roz Roz aankho taley is a song which sprang to popularity much later after it was created.
In the 80s when the music world had touched an all time low, here was a song which stood out, RD and Gulzar had created a melody this time for a voice which was not kishore, which perhaps had the same flavor but a different gloss to it.
The two things I always felt should have happened to this song, this should have been a complete Amit kumar solo and secondly it definitely needed a better movie name, a film called Jeeva was just not the right movie name, it certainly did not help.
A story as told by Amit k himself, this was originally a Aasha Bhosale solo, which later became a duet at the behest of Sanjay Dutt who felt that he was doing nothing if he was not singing in the frame.
Critics view
Amit kumar should have made a bigger impact, the world wanted him to copy his legendary father and he tried to walk his own career. A hero’s voice and a sliver screen voice for ever, this song proves it beyond any doubt.
As John Mason said…
You are born Original, don’t die copy.
-An Original is worth more than a copy.
Amit and his originality remains untouched even as this song completes 32years.
Revival of old memories. Thanks.
